Electrical Engineer

Location: Cambridge/Colchester/Chelmsford
Salary: £31,000 to £37,000 (Circa £45,000 - £50,000)
Holiday Allowance: 20 days plus bank holidays
Travel Time: Minus 30 minutes each way
Call Out Rota: Yes (1 in 6 to 1 in 8, region dependent)
Company Vehicle: Provided with personal use allowed

Company Overview:
Maintaining approximately 2,500 buildings across the UK in sectors such as Commercial, Distribution Centres, Hospitality, Rail, Educational, Care Homes, Veterinary, and Casinos. We seek a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team and ensure the continued safe and efficient operation of electrical systems across these sites.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Electrical Installations & Remedial Work:
  • Carry out electrical installations, including lighting, power supplies, and containment. Perform remedial work like distribution board replacements and fault finding.
  • Testing and Inspection:
  • Conduct testing and inspections on single-phase and three-phase commercial electrical installations.
  • Fire Alarm Systems & Network Cabling:
  • Install and maintain network cabling (CAT 5/6) and perform remedial work on fire alarm systems, including fault finding and panel replacements.
  • Compliance & Documentation:
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant regulations. Complete and submit required documentation, update systems, and manage materials.
  • Support Across Trades:
  • Assist with tasks across other trades and divisions as needed.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications:
    • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (e.g., C&G 2330, 2360, 2357, 2365)
    • City & Guilds 2391/2394 & 2395
    • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
    • Full driving license
  • Skills and Experience:
    • Strong knowledge of commercial electrical systems.
    • Proficiency in testing, inspection, and fault finding.
    • Familiarity with compliance documentation and industry standards.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Excellent problem-solving skills.
    • Attention to detail and commitment to high standards.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Information:
  • This role requires participation in an on-call rota (1 in 6 to 1 in 8, depending on the region) and may involve work in sectors with 24/7 operations.
